Dawn Garey
Trainee Counsellor
I am a qualified teacher with over two decades of experience working with children and young people across a wide range of ages and backgrounds.
Alongside my teaching career, I have developed a strong interest in psychology, mental health and wellbeing, and I hold a BSc (Hons) in Human Psychology.
My counselling journey began with CPCAB Level 2 and Level 3 counselling qualifications, and I am currently studying towards a Level 4 Diploma in Integrated Counselling with WCTI.
I am also a certified hypnotherapist, giving me a broad range of knowledge and approaches to support clients.
I also have first-hand experience of separated families and child contact, giving me personal insight into the emotional impact that separation and changes in family relationships can have on both parents and children. I can bring this understanding and empathy to my counselling work with clients experiencing similar circumstances.
My counselling style is integrative, meaning I draw on different therapeutic approaches and tailor my work to the individual person, their experiences and their needs. I believe that everyone is unique, and that counselling should provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where people can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace.
